Yield Data Portability: Which Farm Platforms Let Your Data Out (Matrix v0)

Yield data portability is your ability to take the harvest data your own combine generated and use it outside the platform that collected it — in another FMIS, a spreadsheet, an agronomist's GIS, or a free tool like our Yield Map Viewer. The blunt state of it in 2026: every major vendor's yield log leaves the machine in a proprietary container first (Deere's JD-Data folder, FieldView's .dat, CNH's .cn1, Precision Planting's .2020, Trimble's AgData), and the only format everything accepts on the way in is the humble shapefile.

What farmers actually say

Our mined app-store review corpus is blunt: FieldView reviewers warn to "download your data first" before canceling, and 58% of the 74 recent FieldView reviews we analyzed are 1-star — the full numbers are on get your data out of FieldView and exporting yield data across 5 platforms. The repair side just moved (see the July 2026 FTC–Deere settlement) — the data side hasn't.
